Wanted man gunned down in Petit Valley
A 23-year-old man wanted for several murders in the Western Division was gunned down after collecting his car at a garage in Petit Valley on Monday afternoon. Police reports revealed that Carlos Patterson of Simon Street, Diego Martin, was reversing his car out of the garage with another man at 5.20 pm, when occupants of another car began shooting at him. He was shot several times while sitting in the driver’s seat. Officers of the Four Roads Police Station were called to the scene and a team of officers under Snr Supt Roderick Roach went to the scene and cordoned off the area. Scores of people rushed to the scene to catch a glimpse of the body, but were prevented from doing so. A relative of the victim, who began cursing, was repeatedly warned by the police to desist from using obscene language at the scene. She ignored the police warning and was soon joined by relatives who also accused the police of turning a blind eye to crime. This stand-off ended in a brief scuffle between a police officer and a man. Three people were later bundled into a police vehicle and taken to the Four Roads Police Station, where they remained up to late Monday night. Police investigators told Newsday that Patterson had been marked for death, and was recently threatened by members of a rival gang. The dead man’s relatives declined to be interviewed, only saying justice will prevail. The bullet-riddled car was towed to the Four Roads Police Station after Patterson’s body was removed and taken to the Forensic Science Centre. Investigations are continuing.
