Defeated Moonilal hails Jack Warner victory

DEFEATED MP Dr Roodal Moonilal yesterday issued a public statement for the first time since he lost the deputy political leader post in last Sunday’s executive elections. Moonilal expressed great confidence in FIFA vice president, Austin Jack Warner, who emerged victorious in one of the three deputy political leader post contested. In calling on UNC members to give their full support, the Oropouche MP said, "It is now time to give support and the required opportunities for the new elects to quickly settle down and get to work."

Moonilal pointed to Warner’s victory, saying his win reflected the all-embracing nature of the party. Moonilal had described Jack Warner at a campaign meeting, as "Hanuman." For if it was possible to open the heart of the FIFA vice president, Moonilal explained, "you will surely see "UNC" written somewhere."

Moonilal received more than 4,700 votes, losing by a margin of about 300 votes. "I was very contented with the fact that I was able to gain so many votes," Moonilal said yesterday.
