Shot grandmother’s condition improves
Doctors at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital have described the medical condition of Gloria Mollick, the 66-year-old grandmother who was used as a human shield on Tuesday, as improving. Yesterday, Patricia Mollick visited her mother at Ward 22 and told Newsday that doctors are seeing signs of improvement in her mother’s condition. They have ordered complete bed rest for Mollick and have also limited the number of visitors at her bedside. However, the four bullets have not yet been removed. Mollick’s relatives are seeking the intervention of Health Minister John Rahael to have Mollick removed to a private health institution to be treated. They added that the victim was an innocent citizen going about her business on Charlotte Street, Port-of-Spain, when she was shot four times while being used as a human shield. Mollick’s family believes she will survive the gun attack if she is given special care and attention. Osbourne Sylvester, the man who used Mollick as a human shield, was also recuperating at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital yesterday. He said he was sorry for his actions, and plans to visit Mollick and apologise to her. Police investigators said yesterday that they cannot lay a charge against Sylvester. However, they are searching for the man who shot Mollick four times and Sylvester six times.
