14 held in police raids


A TOTAL of 14 persons were arrested between Thursday night and yesterday morning in exercises in the Morvant and Sangre Grande districts.


In the first instance, 12 persons were held in Morvant in an exercise held between 8 pm Thursday and 1.30 am yesterday. One man was caught red-handed with a stolen vehicle, while four others were held on outstanding warrants. The others were held for investigations into murders. The exercise was coordinated by Inspector Hilaire and it included officers of the North-eastern Division Task Force and the Morvant Police Station.


In another exercise yesterday between 4 am and 10 am, officers of the Sangre Grande Police Station also held two men for possession of narcotics. That exercise was coordinated by Insp Roy. All arrested persons will appear before Port-of-Spain and Sangre Grande magistrates on Monday.
