New YTEPP offices open in South
FOR the past 16 years, the Youth Training And Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP) has trained approximately 130,000 young people, and on Thursday its new offices were opened in South Trinidad to expand the reach of its career enhancement programmes. Thousands of persons between ages 15 and 25 are expected to benefit from a variety of skills training at the South regional office at the corner of Farah and Todd Streets, San Fernando. YTEPP’s South regional manager Yvette Henry yesterday said the new office aimed at providing training to people in the far-reaching rural communities. She said there was an overwhelming call for the programme to reach areas such as Cedros, Moruga and Guayaguayare. Henry said, "Our approach in teaching is different to the education system. We work in groups and interact with each other in an attempt to reach all participants." While advanced computer training would be offered in the new South offices, Henry said there was a demand for photography and graphic design courses. Also on the cards for YTEPP is the establishment of a headquarters in Central Trinidad.
