4 bomb victims still warded

ONLY four of the 14 persons injured in Friday night’s bomb blast in St James remained warded at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital yesterday.

Lavern Allen, one of the injured who is 22 weeks pregnant, was discharged yesterday. She was on her way to purchase something to eat when the bomb blast threw her to the ground.

The four people who are still warded at hospital are Alma Thomas-Antoine, Maurice Davis, Carrol Merrin and Russel Thomas.

Minister of Health John Rahael, who visited the victims of the bomb blast on Saturday assured that they would receive counselling and follow-up treatment, if required.

The four patients are expected to be discharged later this week.

They are suffering from cuts, bruises and burns. Flying shrapnel from the bomb caused facial damage to security guard Thomas.

He was on his way to purchase a shark and bake when the bomb went off causing shrapnel to inflict cuts to his lip and chest.

Thomas is expected to undergo minor surgery later this week.
