Republic Bank head: Keep fighting for TT

REPUBLIC BANK managing director, David Dulal-Whiteway, is encouraging all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to avoid becoming discouraged by the country’s crime problems, and to continue to fight for the good of the nation.

Speaking at the 2005 Excellence in Business Awards ceremony at Pier I in Chaguaramas Tuesday night, Dulal-Whiteway noted that the region continues to progress despite rising crime and a plethora of other challenges which it faces today.

Noting that the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) and greater intelligence sharing between regional security forces were aspects of an integrated voice, he encouraged all citizens "to keep fighting for a better TT."

Noting the successes of the six businesses being honoured at the ceremony, Dulal-Whiteway urged the CEOs of those organisations to see themselves as an important piece of the fabric of the present and future lives of the people of this country.

He said they must not take their corporate social responsibility for granted and do all in their power to ensure that the national fabric is both functional and beautiful.

Multicinemas Trinidad Ltd emerged as the winner of the 2005 Excellence in Business Award, and its chairman Derek Chin underscored his company’s commitment to contribute to national development.

Chin noted that since the company started its operations in 2002, its Movie Towne cineplex at Invaders Bay has become the premier location for quality family entertainment in TT.

Expressing agreement with the 2005/2006 Budget’s focus on the family, Chin said his company hopes to continue to deliver top quality family entertainment with the expansion of its Invaders Bay cineplex and the construction of additional cineplexes in San Fernando, Tobago and Chaguanas.
