Vincent to stand trial for Pixie’s murder

THE man charged with the murder of 16-year-old Siparia schoolgirl Radha Pixie Lakhan, whose body was found in a shallow grave in April, was yesterday committed to stand trial in the High Court.

Paul Vincent, 33, of La Brea Trace, Quarry Village, was also committed by Magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle to stand trial before a judge and jury for the murder of Lakhan’s great-aunt, Tarmattee Toolsie.

Toolsie, also of La Brea Trace, was killed and her remains found in a forested area near her home on April 18. Lakhan had gone missing only a month before her aunt’s murder.

Toolsie’s remains were found in a shallow grave in thick bushes along Spring Trace not far from where she lived on April 22.

Twenty-two witnesses testified in the preliminary inquiry into Toolsie’s killing. A total of 20 witnesses have given evidence in Lakhan’s hearing.

Earle-Caddle, presiding in the Siparia Magistrates’ First Court, ruled that a prima facie case had been made out against Vincent in both cases. He is to stand trial at the next sitting of the Assizes.

Vincent was charged by Cpl Inniss Minors with Toolsie’s murder. Sgt Michael Wells laid the charge in Lakhan’s killing. State attorney Kathy Ann Alexander prosecuted, while attorney Surujram Singh represented Vincent.
