BDC hosts forum at Macoya

The Business Development Company (BDC) will be hosting a forum tomorrow at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya.

The concept of the Business Development Forum, (BDF) is to provide an opportunity for information sharing between business enterprises and a range of financial institutions, said a press statement.

This forum is the BDC’s response to requests from businesses organisations for information on how to make their businesses attractive to developmental and lending institutions.

At a breakfast seminar earlier this year, which attracted more than 180 participants, entrepreneurs indicated that a key factor hindering their growth and expansion was their inability to access development funding and other business support.

Ruthven Jack, financial consultant, will address the topic "Achieving Your Desired Future Position." "Reducing the riskiness of doing business with SMEs" will be addressed by managing director of CMMB Securities, Robert Mayers.

"A View from the Trenches — Experiences of a successful SME executive in financing start up and business expansion" will be addressed by Trevor Lynch founder and managing director of Hydrotech Limited.

The final topic for the day "Getting What You Want From the Bank" will be presented by Edwin Gooding of the Bankers Association.

The forum is expected to attract representation from the banking sector, financing institutions, lending agencies, venture capitalists and credit unions.
