No technology can predict next bomb
SECURITY will not be beefed up between November 10 and 14 — the days on which the public can expect another bomb to explode in any part of Trinidad and Tobago. According to Commissioner of Police, Trevor Paul, it would be difficult to say where and when a bomb would be planted, even with the best technology. He added, however, that both law enforcement and the public must be vigilant. Four explosions have taken place in Trinidad this year — on July 11, August 10, September 10, and October 14. Paul, who was addressing the media at the Ministry of National Security’s Abercromby Street office in Port-of-Spain, yesterday said he wished the police could prevent people from planting bombs. Realistically, however, he said this could not be done. The CoP said police were patrolling and using intelligence to profile the perpetrators. According to Paul, while the police had not been able to gather cogent evidence to charge anyone, the evidence they had pointed in a particular direction. "When I identify ‘Mr Big,’ there will be an arrest," the commissioner assured. When the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) officers assigned to assist local officers return, they would examine all the exhibits from the four bombings, he said.
