Two Frenchmen flee Crowne Plaza
TWO French nationals were held on Tuesday night after attempting to vacate the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain, after racking up $100,000 in unpaid hotel bills. The men, who were originally from Nigeria and Congo in Africa, were handed over to the Fraud Squad. Police confirmed that negotiations were underway to have the money wired from France. Police could not say where in France the men were from or how long they have been in Trinidad. However, police said the men had not overstayed their visit, and the men said they were potential investors. When contacted, the management at Crowne Plaza refused to comment, stating the matter is being investigated.
