Trio on bail for stealing vault
TWO boys and a teenage girl were each placed on $25,000 bail yesterday by a Point Fortin magistrate after they pleaded not guilty to stealing a vault from the home of a real estate agent in Point Fortin on Tuesday. However, the girl, Leonise Mitchell, and the two boys of Chatham Village, Point Fortin, were unable to raise the bail money up to late yesterday and were taken into custody at the Youth Training Centre (YTC). The trio appeared before Magistrate Suimongal Ramsaran in the Point Fortin Second Magistrates’ Court charged with larceny of the vault from a dwelling house on Beach Road. The charges stemmed from an incident on Tuesday in which the home of Errol Spencer, a real estate agent, was broken into and his 500-pound vault wheeled away. Mitchell and the two boys were arrested at their respective homes on Wednesday. The three accused were unrepresented by an attorney when they appeared yesterday. Suimongal ordered that the three be traced to determine if they had previous convictions or pending cases in court. They are to re-appear next Thursday.
