Give Deryck a chance
THE EDITOR: The problem with some politicians in this country is that they just don’t know how to bow out gracefully. I could hardly believe that the Cricket Board elections were held last Saturday and in Monday’s edition of the Newsday is an article quoting Lequay giving all his doubt about the unity of the new Board. For a moment, please remember that of the five officers chosen only Deryck is new as a member of the board. Is Lequay really saying that the other four are not worth their salt! In the past Lequay has been quick to say that the TTCBC elections are held in a fair and democratic process and that the members have spoken. Well come now — the elections last Saturday were fair and democratic, it could withstand any "recount" and the members have indeed spoken. The new Board needs a chance to settle and of course Deryck must also be mindful that if he does not deliver that he will be replaced in two years. So come now Mr Lequay, be a true ‘friend of cricket’ in your well deserved retirement. RICHARD JAY WILLIAMS Maracas St Joseph
