TSTT man freed of gun charge
A TSTT technician and three other men were yesterday freed of a gun charge after a Port-of-Spain magistrate ruled that there was not enough evidence to suggest the men were part of a scheme put forward by investigating officers. Brent Busby, 28, of Malabar; Seymour Miguel and David Henry of Laventille; and Joseph Daniel of Cocorite were all charged with possession of a .38 revolver and eight rounds of .38 ammunition. According to reports, the men were held on May 3, 2000, at an abandoned house in Laventille. Magistrate Avason Quinlan presided over the matter which was heard in the Port-of-Spain Fourth Magistrates’ Court. The court heard that on the day in question, members of the Crime Suppression Unit were patrolling the Eastern Main Road, Laventille, when they received an urgent report. The officers subsequently went to an abandoned apartment at Dorata Street, Laventille, where they found the four accused sitting on a sponge in the house.
