Mother of 6 shot dead in Morvant
A Morvant mother of six, who was accused of being a police informer, was shot dead in the gallery of her Never Dirty home in Morvant on Thursday night. She was the 323rd person murdered for the year. Up to late yesterday, 325 persons had been murdered for the year to date. Police reports revealed that Glenda Walcott was at her home at 7.30 pm on Thursday, when she was called out by two men. Walcott, 46, who operated a parlour at her home, thought the men were interested in making a purchase. As she came out of the house and stood on the gallery, she was riddled with bullets which struck her in the head, chest and arms. The killers then fled the scene. A neighbour of the bleeding woman ran to the house and sought help, but she was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Neighbours of the dead woman refused to be interviewed, claiming they are now living in fear as a result of the cold-blooded killing. Allison Myers, the dead woman’s daughter, told Newsday that her mother was not a police informer. She said the person or persons who killed her mother must have mothers and sisters, and she is sure that they will one day be forced to grieve when the same justice is meted out to them. Myers said her mother was a hard working, part-time URP worker and operated a parlour to make extra cash. Officers of the Morvant CID are investigating.
