Hand over Opposition Leadership to Dookeran

The residents indicated that they were not impressed with the use of constitutional provisions to justify the retention of the post by Panday. They labelled the dual leadership an anomaly, saying it was untenable.

The resolution also gave full support to MP Manohar Ramsaran, should he decide to take up a seat on the Opposition back bench.

It also called on the National Executive to initiate an inquiry into the recount exercise in which Gerald Yetming was displaced as the party vice-chairman. The resolution, which supports the leadership of Winston Dookeran, was passed at the Vishnu Boys’ College after Dookeran’s visit to the constituency.
