Nigerian held at Piarco with coke


A 52-year-old Nigerian was arrested at Piarco International Airport on Monday night after police allegedly found two kilos of cocaine in his luggage.


Ani Chi Emman, who lives in Hackney, London, appeared before Magistrate Deborah Quintyne in the Arima District Court yesterday charged with possession of cocaine valued at $800,000.


It was reported that Emman was about to board BW 3800 around 7.15 pm when, he was approached by members of the Organised Crime and Narcotics Unit. His luggage was searched and it was reported that the police found the cocaine. Emman will return to court on November 23.


In another matter, Dexter Francois, 32, of Point Fortin, appeared in the same court charged with possession of 285 grammes of cocaine. Francois was about to board BW 900 for London on November 9, when he was approached by the police.


He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he reportedly excreted the cocaine which was valued at $100,000. The matter comes up again on November 23.
