Garbage truck causes power outage
Businesses aT Gray Street in St Clair and as far as Saddle Road, Maraval, including I95 and Red 96.7 FM, were left in the dark yesterday when a Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (TTEC) pole was struck by a garbage truck, which pulled down a power line. The accident occurred in front of the I.95 and Red 96.7 building, and the power lines fell on three cars, causing damage to one. Three transformers then burst into flames causing workers at I95 to evacuate the building. The midday news was cut off the air. Officials of the Fire Services, TTEC, and TSTT moved to restore order to the area. The corner at Tragarete Road and Gray Street was blocked off to repair the pole, causing a traffic pile-up as far as St James and Woodbrook.
