Chaguanas man shot dead outside bar

A 20-year-old Enterprise man was shot dead while liming at a bar a short distance away from his home.

Leborne Simon was sitting outside a bar at the corner of Kenny Cyrus Street, Enterprise, at about 7.40 pm on Monday, when he was approached by three men.

One man, who was wearing a bandana over his face, fired three shots at Simon, who slumped to the ground in a pool of blood. The men fled the scene on foot.

A report was made to the Chaguanas police and a party of officers along with a district medical officer went to the scene.

The body was ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre. Yesterday, police investigators told Newsday that the killing may have been a revenge hit. They added that Simon was in hiding after two men had threatened to kill him. The dead man’s relatives refused to be interviewed yesterday, claiming that Simon was a good person.

Investigations are continuing.

Up to yesterday, 331 persons had been murdered for the year.
