PNM will blight our footballers

THE EDITOR: This is a momentous time for our country. We have qualified for the World Cup Finals in football for the first time in our history, and by all indications we are not going to make up numbers. We are all expecting great performances from the Warriors who can very well shock the football world.

But wait, there is an underlying fear. The team and technical staff may be blighted by the touch of the PNM, and it started the very day after our historic win against Bahrain. Waiting to welcome our team at the airport was the PNM team.

Anyone with a working brain would have seen and heard the political slams of the welcoming ceremony and the PNM’s perversion for promises galore. The Prime Minister said that he intends to hold talks with Dwight Yorke and when the captain comes into his presence that is when the PNM curse will start working in essence.

We all know that anything and everything the PNM put their hands on collapses into dismal failure.

The government must provide the team with all the financial assistance, facilities, equipment etc needed but they should stay far, far away from the players. The political shams of the PNM must not be allowed to stain the aura of our great team.
