Mr Panday makes me sad
THE EDITOR: After seeing Mr Panday’s performance at the so-called "Unity Meeting" and his "News Conference" attempt to justify it as ‘success’ I spent a sad weekend wondering what would Mr Panday do next to discredit Mr Dookeran as the only Political Leader of UNC. The straw which broke the camel’s back is when Mr Panday in explaining that party unity would take a long time and he did not expect it to be achieved with just a "Snap of the fingers" (which he demonstrated). How depressing to those of us who admire, respect and love Mr Panday to see him reach the stage where he does not recognise that just four to five years ago a "snap of his fingers" would send big men scampering. He was almost in the same position of Dr Eric Williams "when I say come he cometh and when I say go he goeth." Worst he does not even recognise that those persons who have been separated from the party have done so under his leadership and are accordingly unwilling to return under the same leadership from which they were separated in the first place.
