Hell in Esmeralda

The Editor: I am a resident of Esmeralda Road in Williamsville. This is probably the last avenue I can turn to for help concerning a major drug problem that is now affecting the lives of all the people in my village. I am speaking on behalf of all the law abiding and decent citizens of Esmeralda Road and Esmeralda Branch Road. We are desperate for someone in authority to come to our assistance.

It seems as though "all hell has broken loose" with the selling of drugs and guns in Esmeralda. I am a mother of two and I am afraid to walk the streets in the evening and at nights, especially in the Esmeralda Junction area. People like me who do not own a car have to walk the lonely areas through the cane at our own peril. Residents have complained to the Gasparillo Police Station on numerous occasions and the police are turning a blind eye to the three known drug houses in Esmeralda.

They openly sell drugs out of their houses and scores of young unemployed men can be seen there on any given evening and night. Very late at night young men are walking the streets to get their fill of cocaine and marijuana from known pushers in the area.

These pushers hide in the bushes on the roadside and wait for their customers.

Recently a boy went to the village shopkeeper to get a box of matches and the son of one of the drug pushers robbed him of $5 and threatened to kill him if he reported it to the police. Please Mr Commissioner of Police, help us.
