Letter four years late
THE EDITOR: On October 8, 2002, I drafted a letter to send to our newly elected leader Patrick Manning. For whatever reason, I didn’t send it and in hindsight I’m glad I didn’t. One of our radio talk-show hosts said recently that with the billions of dollars in revenue pouring into this nation annually and with just a mere 1.3 million people TT should be a model for other countries and the envy of most countries, but alas, this is where we are today. It’s so sad. This was my letter... Dear Prime Minister, Congratulations to you and the People’s National Movement for winning the General Elections. Now that my country is in your hands, I beg you to look after my/our country. Please keep it safe and above all, manage it well. In addition, please make a huge effort to instill pride in every single citizen and to let us, once and for all, evolve from the ‘rum and roti’ attitude for which we are well known here and abroad. Lastly, our country needs cleaning up. Please do everything in your power to enforce a proper anti-litter campaign to keep TT beautiful. SANDY ANDERSON Port-of-Spain
