Consider Dr Yip Hoi for national award
THE EDITOR: One of Trinidad and Tobago’s most dedicated doctors passed away in 2005. His name is Dr Andrew Yip Hoi. Many of us did not know of his scholastic abilities. He was the first urologist in Trinidad and Tobago. After his studies in Ireland, where he pursued urology training, he functioned as a general surgeon at the San Fernando General Hospital. He did urological surgery along with his general surgery. He made representation for a Urological Unit and with the support and cooperation of his general surgical colleagues we can boast of having one of the best Urology Units in the Caribbean. He did part time work in urology at the Augustus Long Hospital, Pointe-a-Pierre, and was well loved by many retirees who passed through his hands. For his good work I am asking that a posthumous National Award be given at our Independence celebrations to this doctor. CLYDE W PADMORE San Fernando
