Malabar Gardens approved — HDC

This was the reminder issued by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to Malabar residents, who oppose the construction of more homes in the area and staged recent demonstrations.

In a statement, the HDC stressed that the Malabar housing development was being undertaken in phases, with the most recent phase done in 2005.

“The land being approved in this current phase had always been approved by the Town and Country Planning Division for housing,” the HDC said. It added that the units to be built in Malabar’s final phase would be allocated using the same system as for all other units, nationwide, which will not cater for any specific group of persons.
