Phoenix Park Gas sends James to Kansas

The athlete, who was selected by the NAAA, has benefited from a joint sponsorship from Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited and River City Engineering of Kansas.

James is a top junior half-miler who was a fifth place finisher at the World Youth Championships in a personal best time of 1.50.31.

His performances at this meet were excellent attaining PB’s at each stage of the competition. James is expecting to improve on his CARIFTA gold medal winning time of 1:52:64 when he runs on Saturday in the men’s 800m Open category.

In 2005, Renny Quow and Britney St Louis were the first athletes to participate in the Kansas Relays under this joint venture project.

Renny captured bronze in the 400 metres invitational in 47:24.

Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited stated yesterday they will continue to spearhead projects that offer young people unique opportunities to excel in sporting, cultural and academic pursuits.

This is the second year that Phoenix Park Gas have sponsored athletes to the Kansas Relays.

Both Quow and St Louis who were sponsored last year have continued to advance their track careers.

Phoenix Park Gas hope that James and others in the future will benefit from the exposure of international competition and will hopefully gain athletic scholarships.
