Boynes praises national cricketers
In his letter Minister Boynes said it was deserving Trinidad and Tobago should complete the double winning both the Carib Beer Series and Carib Challenge Trophy. Trinidad and Tobago overwhelmed Barbados by 125 runs on the final day of their final, Wednesday, at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre.
The Minister said: “After 21 years during which the regional title eluded us this latest victory further reinforces our image as a leading cricket force and all-around formidable sporting nation.” He specially congratulated skipper Daren Ganga for his astute leadership. “Trinidad and Tobago is awash with the incredible feeling of pride derived from our exceptional sporting heroes,” Boynes stated.
“We at the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs also wish to praise the individual achievements of spinner Dave Mohammed, leading wicket-taker in the tournament — 45 and Rayad Emrit whose batting and bowling landed him the ‘Man-of-the-Match’ title in the final,” Boynes said. He also paid tribute to the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board whose guidance and programmes throughout the years led to the success of the team.
