Songshine features Earl Lovelace

Lovelace, whose body of work includes plays, essays and novels such as Salt, The Wine of Astonishment, and The Dragon Can’t Dance, is the artistic director of Carifesta IX, taking place in Trinidad in September/October this year. Lovelace’s stated focus for the festival is the recognition of resistance as the central theme of Caribbean culture.

At Songshine, he will read from his works while other performers, including poets and musicians, will also present their works.

Songshine is a monthly open-mic concert which will take place on Sunday May 7 at 7 pm, at Trevor’s Edge, opposite Scotiabank in St Augustine.

Admission is $20; $10 for UWI students.
