Treasured Voices for Mother’s Day

Whose voices? Jazz singer Mavis John, calypsonian Denyse Plummer and vocalist Raymond Edwards.

They are to be among the acts of the ENI Entertainment Production, scheduled for May 6, at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya.

With President George Maxwell Richards as its patron, “Treasured Voices” is expected to showcase the talents of experienced singers and rising stars like Leandra Head, a powerful singer, who is still in primary school.

Saxophonist Francis Prime and pan maestro Len “Boogsie” Sharpe will make guest appearances.

“The event will showcase some of the treasured voices of Trinidad and Tobago and some of those who stood the test of time,” said Junior Noel Hutson, ENI Entertainment’s public relations officer .

“It is intended to bridge the musical gap between the young and the old and to provide a forum for inspiring musical excellence.”

ENI Entertainment was formed, in 2003, by three friends who shared a vision to promote quality entertainment and showcase the country’s abundant wealth of talent in music, song and dance.

The organisation got its name from the initials of the middle names of the three people who formed it. They are Trevor Everard Nelson, Junior Noel Hutson and Hamlyn Ian Pantin.

Since its launch at Club Caribbean, all their major events have been successful.

“The Awesome Four of Steel” which was held at Queen’s Park Oval, in 2004, featured WITCO Desperadoes, Neal and Massy All Stars, Sagicor Exodus and Petrotrin Phase II.

“The Golden Era of the Big Band Sound”, staged last year, featured music icon Joey Lewis, who was then celebrating 50 years as a musician.

“Both events were a huge success” said Hutson “because we are about producing quality events all the time.”

Part of the profits of “Treasured Voices — Ageless and Timeless” will be donated to a charity.

Tickets are available at Kam’s, Crosby’s and Cleve’s record shops and Cach? clothing store at West Mall.
