Road falls apart the next day
Recently, the residents of La Brea, Vance River, Gonzales and Point Fortin demonstrated for better roads. This took the form of a “fiery protest” in February. A prompt intervention by the government, $18 million was allotted for paving the roads. The end results are equal to that of a “half cooked cake that is iced.” The only noticeable change is the rich, dark surface, yet a bumpy ride awaits the travelling public and motorists.
A matter of great concern is the fact, after appeasing the residents, another twist seems to be unfolding. Can this be explained, time and money are spent to fix a problem only to have it unfixed soon after? It is time for decision makers and problem solvers to get their act right.
At this present time, double broken white lines about 20 inches in width can be seen drawn on the road’s surface. This suggests the road is earmarked to be dug up.
What is really happening? Didn’t the authorities or the person in charge know about this new development waiting to happen?
It is sad to say “Road repairs in TT have become a predictable routine.”
