Worried parents beg
“DON’T be afraid no matter what has happened. Please, just come back home.” This was the plea coming from the parents of 15-year-old Afisha Cato during an interview yesterday.Cato, went missing over a month ago.
A worried Deokie Chattergoon Cato and her husband, Michael Cato, also appealed to members of the public to assist them in the search for their daughter whom they last saw on March 11.
His eyes dazed with worry, Michael Cato said his daughter left the family’s Gulf View, La Romain home around 7.30 am to go to her part-time job at a supermarket in Palmiste.
When she failed to return home, Cato’s mother telephoned the police and filed a Missing Person’s Report at the San Fernando Police Station.
Apart from this, the woman said she also carried out her own investigation and learnt that her daughter was last seen in the company of a 30-year-old man. Mrs Cato told Newsday she gave this information to the police, but she claimed, the officers failed to act on it.
Four days after filing the report, Chattergoon-Cato claimed that police officers came to her home and told her that she and her daughter, were both wasting their (the police) time.
“I want my daughter to know we all love her and that her two-year-old niece Sarah, is crying for her. Please, Afisha, please come back home to us,” a weeping Mrs Cato begged.
