Dead of blood clots
A three-year-old boy of Chaguanas who died from Massive Cerebral Infracture at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (ewmsc) on Wednesday, was also found to have traces of marijuana in his blood.
Homicide officers were called in and investigations revealed that the child had inhaled marijuana from a relative who smoked the drug.
The relative was questioned by the police but no charges were laid against him. Yesterday, the child’s mother told Newsday her son lapsed into a coma two weeks ago.
He was admitted to the EWMSC on April 9, but died at 8 am on Monday without regaining consciousness. An autopsy yesterday revealed the child developed severe blood clots in his brain which led to his death.
A post-mortem by Dr Hughvon des Vignes revealed the marijuana found in the child’s blood had nothing to do with his death.
No foul play was suspected.
The boy will be buried today.
