Hold party elections asap

The only real solution is for an election to be held as soon as possible. The idea of having two different leaders occupying the positions of Opposition Leader and Leader of Party, is a joke that must have Mr Manning grinning from ear to ear. The crisis within the party will only deepen during the course of time.

It is a free for all and the people who would suffer the most are the UNC supporters. In fact, when elections are called the UNC may just be a name not a party.

The UNC election guidelines must clearly state that whoever wins will be the Leader of the Party as well as Leader of the Opposition. That person must be given the opportunity to work with the current team or form another team for the next elections.

Trinidad is a democracy and in any democracy there is the need for a strong Opposition or else the government will function with an “unrestrained hand” in dealing with the wealth and future of the nation.

All parties concerned should work together to ensure that the elections are fair. Those who are running will set up their own monitoring team. It should not be left to the current UNC cabal to decide on these matters.

The public display of animosity in the UNC does not assist the UNC in the public eye as a viable alternative to the PNM.

With the party so divided it will take men and women of good will to rebuild and rekindle the fire of the rising sun.
