Handyman on murder charge

It is alleged that Alleyne, also called ‘Squaky’, murdered Ramnarine between April 26 and 29 at her home at St Francois Valley Road, Belmont. A post-mortem revealed Ramnarine was strangled.

Alleyne was not represented. His father who was in court said he could not afford a lawyer and will apply to Legal Aid for an attorney. In the same court, Dexter John, 19, of Boxhill Trace, Laventille, appeared charged with the murder of 13-year-old Mikhael Alleyne at Laventille on April 21. Alleyne had gone with friends to buy a phone card when he was shot dead. John was represented by Peter Clarke-Wills and he was not called upon to plead. Both cases were adjourned to May 10.
