Two murders push toll to 131
In the first case, doctors could not save the life of 17-year-old Kevin Peters who was brought to hospital by residents of Ackbarali Trace in Malabar, late on Tuesday evening.
Homicide detectives reported that at about 8.30 pm, Malabar residents heard loud explosions and on checking, found Peters with gunshot wounds. Several hours later, doctors had another emergency on their hands.
The patient this time was Joseph George Jacobs, who despite the doctors’ efforts, died from stab wounds inflicted on him by an unknown man.
Police reports revealed Jacobs was awakened by the barking of his dogs at his Las Lomas home at about 2 am yesterday.
Although he found one of his dogs lying lifeless in the garage, Jacobs returned to his bed, investigators speculated. However, a short while after, Jacobs’ sister heard him screaming in his bedroom. Upon entering the bedroom, she found Jacobs clutching his chest as a man ran out of the house.
Jacobs was taken to the EWMSC where doctors were unable to save him. These killings have taken the country’s murder rate to 131 for the year. Investigations into both slayings are continuing.
