He added that he will discharge his “duty, responsibility and function as Political Leader to move ahead and do what is necessary (for the party).”

He said the ongoing turmoil in the UNC ranks has distracted it from doing the people’s business.

Meanwhile, UNC Senator Ato Boldon yesterday declined comment on the recent developments in the UNC, namely the conviction and subsequent resignation of Basdeo Panday and the appointment of Kamla Persad-Bissessar as Opposition Leader.

“I don’t have any comments. I am just letting it play out. Later on I may have something to say,” Boldon said.
