Mr Dookeran, don’t be ungrateful
Recently he made you the political leader of the party he founded, expecting that you would re-energise constituencies and instill maturity in party groups throughout the country. Instead, the very first thing you did is to try to throw him out of his party.
Do you think it is a coincidence that the PNM has retained many of their older political veterans? Not at all, for they were past masters at creating confusion in the ranks of opposition parties, even financing other opposition forces and perhaps individuals from within the main Opposition party. They may not be managing the country as best, but they certainly know how to remain in office. Their machinery presently is being oiled and serviced while the UNC’s bearings are shelled.
The UNC has a lot of catching up to do but must first stop the tugging down of itself, like the proverbial crabs in a barrel. Finally Mr Dookeran, the multitude of UNC supporters and voters expect your loyalty to them, not to a few individuals and their cabal, whatever their theme. They disagree with the party’s executive, they disagree with the Opposition leader, past and present, in Parliament, moving from front seat to back seat, putting a whole new spin to the word integrity. Pick yourself up now and help the UNC and the country, for no fly by night party, nor consortium can remove this PNM.
