Shotguns stolen from Barrackpore home
The bandits gained entry into the house by prying open a door.
The firearms belong to Dipnarine Maharaj, 56, a teacher at Barrackpore Vedic School and his son, Avinash Maharaj, 35, an engine room operator, who are both the holders of a firearm licence.
Police reports stated that Maharaj left his home around 8 am for work, while Avinash left the house around midday.
Avinash discovered the break-in and theft when he returned home around 2.15 pm.
Investigators said the intruders broke open a steel metal box which contained the two weapons.
The box was in Maharaj’s bedroom, police said.
Detective Sgt Alphius of the Barrackpore Police Station is spearheading investigations.
