Pollard celebrates gets going at JP Complex

Representing the “Parkites” in the final of the Noel Guillen Memorial Under-21 competition at the Queen’s Park Oval, Pollard smashed 106 from 51 deliveries, including nine sixes and six fours to help his team amass a formidable 247 for four against the visitors from Penal.

Pollard was well supported by TT Under 19 batsman Darren Bravo who hit an unbeaten 88 with eight fours and one six, off 103 balls.

In reply, PowerGen with TT senior team batsman Jason Mohammed at the helm, failed to come to terms with the probing spin of West Indies youth off-spinner Sunil Narine and left-arm bowler Darren Deonarine and folded for 101. Narine ended with figures of four for 19, and Deonarine three for 26.

Pollard, voted “Man-of-the-Match”, left for London yesterday. The player who turns 19 next Friday was a member of the West Indies Under-19 team which participated in this year’s Youth World Cup in Sri Lanka.
