Hart: Developing youth resource critical
“It is essential we target the youth in all our development projects because they are the torch-bearers that ensures the future prosperity of the country,” Hart told the gathering at the third Workshop for Pan in Schools Coordinating Council at NIHERST. The opening speech at the event was made by NIHERST president Maureen Manchouck who thanked the National Gas Company (NGC) and BG Trinidad and Tobago for hosting the event.
Hart stated that youths must be fired up by visions of what is still to come and they should never easily tire. Hart said it is by these means, that it is essential for the youth of the nation be taught the science of learning to play the National Instrument. Hart ended his speech by saying: “who knows if there is not some youth sitting here before us today who shall in turn unleash the new level and stage of pan manufacturing for tomorrow.”
Among the highlight of the workshop was a skit by students of the Aranjuez Government Secondary School on the History and Development of the Steelpan. The skit was well received by the audience with sporadic laughter underscoring their delight at the students’ stage performance.
