Garbage problem shuts down casino
Inspectors from the Port-of-Spain City Corporation’s Public Health Department visited the restaurant and club recently but did not issue instructions for the club to close then, Newsday learnt.
A sign posted on the door of the Laughing Buddha said, “Sorry we are closed,” while persons trying to gain access to the casino were advised by security guards that the place was closed for the day.
In an interview, Laughing Buddha manager Carol Tai said the private garbage truck which normally clears the dumpster every day, did not come out on Saturday night. As a result, there was a pile up of garbage, however Tai said the garbage was cleared away. While the Club de Vegas was reopened, a telephone call to the Laughing Buddha revealed that it was still closed late Monday. A worker said it was due to reopen yesterday.
