Chutney Molly sings for mothers
Together with her band the ‘Chutney Caravan’ she will be on stage at the Triangle Amphitheatre in Rio Claro tomorrow and at the Triangle Sports and Cultural Club in Aranjuez on Sunday. Both shows begin at 8 pm. At the Rio Claro show women will be admitted free before 10 pm and in Aranjuez women are free before 8 pm.
Former Mastana Bahar winner Shaffiroon Mohammed will join Molly to sing film songs such as “Maa Sunawo” and “Nat Kat Nandi Tujhe Dekko.” Shaffiroon has also been very much in the limelight with her songs “Snake In Meh Bed” and “Meh Fowl Cock.”
Molly who lives at Lalbeharry Trace in Penal has been composing and singing chutney for over 15 years. In 1998 she shot to stardom with her song “Meh Lover Boy.” Show promoter Simbhoonath Kumar will also be giving away several hampers to mothers in the audience. Admission for these shows will be $20.
