HYO, Clarke Rochard in Ramsingh’s final
HYO defeated Hillpiece and Clarke Rochard got past Woodland in the semi-finals last weekend to qualify for the championship match.
At Penal, HYO batted first and scored 193 for seven off their allotted 35 overs. Former South Zone player Richard McLeod got 54 and Keegan Jaggessar, 43.
The best of the bowlers for Hillpiece was Akeef Mohammed who took three wickets for 35 runs.
Hillpiece in their turn at the crease were bundled out for 180 to lose the match by 13 runs. Ravi Samaroo was the best of the batsmen for Hillpiece with 43.
Krishna Narine and Sterling Bissoon each took three wickets.
At Hermitage, Woodland were thoroughly outplayed by Clarke Rochard in their five-wicket loss. Marlon Partapsingh with 38 had guided Woodland to 172 all out against good bowling by Shivanand Sanker who took three for 30. Navin Ramnath, 33, Kailash Sookdeo, 30, and Ian Ragoonanan, 38, then combined to take their team to 173 for five and a place in the finals.

At Hermitage: Woodland 172 all out (33)(Marlon Partapsingh 38, Kevin Balsingh 35, Paul Wintz 35, Shivanand Sanker 3/30) vs Clarke Rochard 173/5 (Narine Ramnath 33, Kailash Sookdeo 30, Ian Ragoonanan 38, Paul Wintz 3/36, Bissoon Angard 2/30). Clarke Rochard won by 5 wkts.
The final will be played on May 25 at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre from 5.30 pm.
