Cathedral brunch with African style
Dubbed “A family gathering for Anglicans and Friends of the Cathedral”, the brunch will be of an African nature. In effect, it is to pay homage to former Nigerian High Commissioner, Nne Furo Kurubo who was a parishioner of the cathedral during her tenure in this country.
Jeanne Joseph, a member of the organising committee said: “We have been in touch with Nne Kurubo and she and the current High Commissioner and his staff, have been assisting the committee in our preparations.”
In addition to food and entertainment, the brunch will be facilitated by the re-enactment of an African wedding.
Drumming and dancing will bring the bridal entourage into the wedding area where the guests are expected to join in the activities.
“Although many people have not experienced the excitement of this custom, it is hoped that all attendees would participate in the festivities,” said Norma Clarke, a cathedral parishioner.
“African people are spontaneous and love to dance, and this means that everyone can be a part of the celebrations...No one need to be shy.”
Tickets for the brunch are going at $120 each, which will form part of the fund-raising effort for the cathedral.
