Lady Young Highway

It’s an accepted fact that the Lady Young Road on mornings serves as a major transit route. For this reason the north bound lane was widened and an extra lane was introduced from Coconut Drive to just beyond the walkover to accommodate the increase in traffic during the peak hour. Despite accepting the reasoning behind this, I’m afraid that this move has in turn left residents and other road users woefully exposed to the vagaries of immature, callous-minded drivers whose inconsiderate acts has forced residents to now refer to this stretch of roadway as The Lady Young Highway. We the residents most times have to pray for a traffic gridlock or wait for what seems to be an eternity to be able to safely negotiate crossing this roadway.

As motorist we find it extremely difficult to exit the Laventille Extention Road at the junction with the Lady Young Road by the walkover. Most times motorists reluctantly have to impose on the traffic proceeding along the Lady Young Road by dangerously easing out and directly blocking their path. This in no way promotes road safety. I humbly suggest that before this situation deteriorates and causes any further loss of property or life that traffic lights be installed. Experience and history would show that there must continuously be mechanisms put in place to protect man from himself and to impose upon him to consider others.
