Manning proud of Warriors
PRIME MINISTER Patrick Manning yesterday gave his undiminished support to the TT Soca Warriors despite their two-nil loss to England. In a statement, Manning said the Warriors deserved the highest praise for another outstanding performance in World Cup 2006.
“Today they did battle with one of the highest-ranking teams in the tournament and even though they did not win the game, our boys demonstrated that we have a truly world-class team representing Trinidad and Tobago in this premier world sporting event.”
With millions of people watching the event, he said, the Warriors had again made our nation proud.
“Our World Cup campaign is by no means over. The team is improving all the time.” Manning said the Warriors yesterday played with even greater confidence and skill than before. He effused, “Our prospects for victory in our next encounter are therefore very strong.” The Warriors, he said, can still sustain our possibilities in this event which is our first ever World Cup tournament.
“ Let us maintain the courage and determination that we have so far demonstrated and I am sure we will all end up being very proud and satisfied at the end of this most unforgettable experience.”
