Persad-Maharaj tops North Zone

Persad-Maharaj played an important role in guiding Bamboo Sports to the Division 1 and Sunday League titles.

Dr Monica Davis, a University of the West Indies lecturer, was the feature speaker at the function on the topic “Discipline in Sports.”

Other speakers at the ceremony were Anand Daniel, chief executive officer of the 2007 ICC World Cup Local Organising Committee, and Deryck Murray, president of the TTCB and former West Indies Test wicketkeeper.

Don Asgarali, chairman of the zone, was praised for his effective style of management.

Special awards were presented to Bryan Davis, ex-TT and West Indies opening batsman, Claude Phillip, the former national middle-order batsman, and the Queen’s Park Cricket Club.
