Two gunned down in Morvant

Reports are that just as Police had arrived on the murder scene at Angelina Terrace in Never Dirty, they had to quickly rush across to Block 45 where two men had been shot, reportedly in separate and unrelated incidents.

Both shootings reportedly occurred within the space of 20 minutes of each other, with the victims identified as Justin Dover, 25, and 23-year-old Adrian Richards.

Visiting both scenes as well was Acting Commissioner of Police James Philbert who told reporters that the Police was doing everything in their power to control the spate of gang related murders. The killings started at around 7.50 pm Friday when Dover, of Never Dirty, was shot while walking along Angelina Terrace. He slumped into a nearby drain where he died minutes later. Police sources said he was well-known in the North Eastern area and was suspected to be involved in several murders.

Sources also confirmed that he had a series of court matters pending.

A team of North Eastern Division Task Force officers headed by Sgt Roger Alexander and Cpl Darryl La Pierre, responded within minutes of hearing the transmission on the Police radio.

But just as they had secured the crime scene, they received yet another transmission that shots had been fired at Block 45, only a few blocks away.

They responded and visited the scene where they found the bloodied bodies of Richards and Christopher George, 29.

The men were rushed to hospital by the Task Force officers, where Richards was pronounced dead on arrival. George, meanwhile, was listed in critical condition and remained warded in the Intensive Care Unit of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital up to late yesterday.

Both men had reportedly been sitting on a bench at a parlour close to Juman’s building in Morvant when they were shot at.

It was only two weeks ago that Richards’ 38-year-old brother Felix “Cat” Richards had been gunned down while walking along Second Caledonia Road, Vegas in Morvant.

A team of CID officers led by ASP Abraham and Cpl Francis Vidale visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
