Cycling pedals off on Sunday
The 3.2 km circuit begins on the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway and the riders will make their way along Antigua Road, Eastern Main Road then the Cumuto Road circuit in the Wallerfield area.
The race is one of the most popular competitions for local and regional cyclists and is used for National Championship time trials and other events.
The 2009 cycling calender promises to be as exciting and action-packed as 2008 with the action on almost every weekend of March and April as the local wheelmen gear up for the Southern Games and the Easter Grand Prix.
Several of the challenging multi-stage road events are carded for the latter part of the year and time-trials for selection on the national team will be held throughout the year. Several promising cyclists have been promoted based on their impressive performances in 2008 including former juniors Abede Chalmers, Gevan Samuel and Michael Tung who will now compete in Category II.
Multi-sport athlete Gavyn Nero, a former Junior, has moved to Category III while Philmon Thomas and Jovian Gomez will move from Category III to category II.
