THA TO PURCHASE GRAN COURLAND ESTATE

The Tobago House of Assembly Executive Council yesterday  announced it intention to purchase the Gran Courland Estate at Black Rock, North-West Tobago, in its bid to establish a Tobago Heritage Land Trust. Noting that a succesful bid for the Estate would be a major breakthrough for Tobago, THA Secretary for Finance and Planning, Anslem London, envisioned an increase in housing and other economic and recreational possibilities for Tobagonians. London said that in this regard, he remained hopeful that the necessary support will be found in the soon-to-be released National Budget as requests for allocation were made to pursue initiatives of this kind in the context of the 2004 Development Programme.
